Orpheum Theater Premiere of Memphis Heat ..Friday,July 22
Memphis Heat: The True Story of Memphis Wrasslin’ documentary returns to Memphis' Orpheum Theater Friday, July 22 at 7:00 p.m. with a star-studded cast of Jerry Jarrett as well as Lance Russell and Dave Brown—the greatest broadcasting tag-team in the history of wrestling.
Jerry Jarrett will be on hand at the Orpheum to sign copies of his new book The Best of Times before and after the show. Lance Russell and Dave Brown will team up again at the Orpheum for one night only to remind wrestling and film fans why they were the best tag-team of wrestling broadcasting of all time from the early ‘70s to the late ‘80s!
Memphis Heat tells the wild and wooly tale of Southern wrestling--beginning with the carnival days of Sputnik Monroe and Billy Wicks in the late ‘50s. Memphis Heat continues with the Jackie Fargo/Len Rossi/Saul Weingeroff masked-men and tag-team dominated ‘60s. The film continues on into the raucous ‘70s and ‘80s with the up-and-coming Jerry Lawler and Jimmy Hart and the rise of Jerry Jarrett as one of the great wrestling promoters, who kept one of the richest (and last) wrestling businesses in the country.
Jerry Jarrett says of Memphis Heat, “They did a great job of catching the magic of that era and putting it on film.” Jerry Lawler says, “Memphis Heat is a great film!”
Reviews:

Wrestling News Center: “Memphis Heat is entertaining.”
Nashville Scene: “Anyone who enjoys campy shtick, outrageous personalities, and absurd theatrics--in other words, anyone worth knowing--should be heartily amused.”
