Many years ago, I wrote letters requesting autographs from several cartoonists. Most replied with a signed index card. Greg Evans, the creator of Luann, surprised me with the biggest response.
Evans sent me a hand-written note on Luann letterhead. He also included a signed copy of a Luann panel.
Evans has been producing Luann since 1985. The strip follows the adventures of a teenager (Luann) and her family and friends. Like some other more recent comic strips, Luann has aged since her debut. She isn't aging day for day, but her and her friends have grown a lot since their debut.
It's always extra special when you get more than expected with a through-the-mail autograph request. Evans certainly went above and beyond.
