WWE Diva Layla

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

WWE Diva Layla hasn't really done much lately except hang around William Regal.
And did they drop the "Layla London" gimmick?
I noticed on her page at WWE.com she's referred to as Layla and Layla El.
Outside of the wrestling ring, Layla, along with Beth Phoenix and Candice Michelle, appeared in the February 2009 issue of FLEX Magazine.
And I still say Layla is one of the prettiest WWE divas out there.
I just wish they'd get her some more training and get her in the ring more.
Yes I know if all the Divas actually wrestled each week they wouldn't have time for anything else.
Or the WWE would have to create another show just for all the divas, kinda like "WWE GLOW".
Which I would have no problem with......

WWE Diva candice Michelle, Face or Heel?

Candice with brass knuckles? Priceless.

WWE Diva candice Michelle, Face or Heel?

After injuring her shoulder in 2008, then re-injuring again when she tried to return to the ring, WWE Diva Candice Michelle hasn't seen a lot of ring time.
And now that's she's back in the ring at mainly house shows, you have to wonder if the WWE writing staff really knows what to do with her.
There was talk of a possible heel turn awhile back, but that remains to be seen.
And there was also talk of Candice putting on a few pounds and looking kinda outta shape.
But I don't see any evidence of that in any photos I've seen.
So will she be drafted to SmackDown! or stay on Raw.
I'm gonna say she'll stay on the Raw flagship.
I also think a heel turn might be likely.
But Candice, even without a lot of ring time on TV, is still one of the (if not the) most recognizable WWE Divas to the general public.
So a heel turn might not be a good idea as far as image goes.
Then again, when Mickie James was a heel, everyone loved her.
The WWE's bottom line is.... which is gonna sell more tickets, Candice as a heel or face?
Personally, I think Candice as a heel is great.
And can you imagine the heat a Candice Michelle / Maryse tag team would get?

Melina, Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Trish Stratus and Victoria

We didn't really get a womens match last night on WWE Raw.
We got a mixed tag team with Cryme Tyme and Melina against Glamarella and Dolph Ziggler.
Glamarella?
Really?
Are they still gonna go with that?
Anyway, Cryme Tyme and Melina won.

On Natalya's blog at wwe.com, she mentioned both Beth Phoenix and Trish Stratus....

" On another note, many of you have asked me how I feel about Trish Stratus stating she is interested in taking on myself or the Glamazon at WrestleMania. There is no doubt that facing Trish would be nothing short of amazing. Two Canadian women, fighting for everything we believe in, as true athletes would."

"I am very curious what will happen this year at Mania for the Diva's. Like Trish, I will be keeping my eye on the Glamazon, too...and knowing that the best is yet to come. She makes me want to get hungry and forget my manners! These women inspire me to exceed all of my own expectations and personal limits."

You can read the full blog here

And on the Victoria front ( I know, she's not wrestling anymore), she's going full steam ahead it looks like with her MMA training.
Hey, if Brock Lesnar can do it, why not Victoria?
I wish her luck and hope she'll turn up soon on my Female MMA blog.
At least then I can use the hundreds of pics I have of her somewhere!

Female Professional Wrestling News - WWE and NWA

wwe - melina - diva wwe - melina perez - wwe melina
Last night on WWE Raw, Beth Phoenix faced Melina in a match for the WWE Women's Wrestling Championship.
Fairly good match, but of course at the end Santino and Rosa Mendes tried to interfere.
But, Shades of Stone Cold, the other face divas run out and make the save, allowing Melina to roll up Beth for the pin fall.

You know it's kind of odd that they did have a Women's Championship match at No Way Out, but it was a "dark match".
Melina beat Beth Phoenix there as well.

The NWA (remember them?) has had some female wrestling action.
On their February 14 card at the Charlotte Coliseum, Baby Doll saw action.
Yes Baby Doll!
She actually beat Barbarian for the NWA Mid-Atlantic Heritage Title!

And Awesome Kong faced MsChif. MsChif was accompanied by Daffney...I think that is the greatest pairing in the world right now, Daffney and MsChif.
Anyway, Kong was disqualified, so MsChif hangs onto the NWA Women’s World Championship.

And finally Al Snow and Cynthia "Bobcat" Lynch were married last week.
Among the lady wrestling stars that attended were April Hunter, Serena Deeb, Katie Lea Burchill, Lollipop and the very pregnant "Queen Of Extreme" Francine.

WWE Diva Victoria's Birthday!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

You know I couldn't let this one go unnoticed.
Today is Former (sniff) WWE Diva Victoria's Birthday!

Yes one of the most talented Divas to grace the WWE was born on February 10, 1971 in San Bernardino, California on this date.
Of course I've made it no secret that her leaving the WWE saddened me, even though I really could understand it.
WWE missed so many good opportunities with her.
The Mickie James / Victoria tag team, both in Psycho mode would have been so great.
Or a war of the Psychos with the two going at it.
Or a Beth Phoenix / Victoria feud.
Or Victoria as Diva's champion, the modern day version of a gunslinger picking off upstarts.

But you cant change the past, you can only move forwards.
And I wish Victoria all the best!
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Trish Stratus, WrestleMania and WWE Divas

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

You know as Wrestlemania 25 approaches, I keep reading more and more about former WWE Diva Trish Stratus.
So is she gonna be there or not?
I'm guessing yes.
Anyway, there is a really good interview with Trish at Slam Sports that you can read here
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2009/02/03/8254361.html

And speaking of Wrestlemania, WWE has put up a website for it's "Legends of Wrestlemania" game.
The game will be released to coincide with the Wrestlemania 25 PPV.
But looking at the roster for the game, guess what's missing.
Yes, no female wrestlers.
No Moolah, Sherri Martel, Wendi Richter....

But I really can't blame the WWE. Their use of women's matches at Wrestlemania has been spotty at best....

WrestleMania March 31, 1985 New York, New York ,Madison Square Garden: Wendi Richter won the WWF Womens Wrestling title from Lelani Kai.
WrestleMania 2 April 7, 1986: Champion Fabulous Moolah pinned Velvet McIntyre
WrestleMania VI April 1, 1990 Toronto, Ontario SkyDome: Mixed Tag Team Match: Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire beat "The Macho King" Randy Savage and "Queen" Sherri
WrestleMania X March 20, 1994 New York, New York Madison Square Garden: Women's Title: Champion Alundra Blayze beat Lelani Kai
WrestleMania XIV March 29, 1998 Boston, Massachusetts Fleet Center: Marc Mero and Sable beat Goldust and Luna
WrestleMania XV March 28, 1999 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania First Union Center: Women's Title: Champion Sable beat Tori
WrestleMania 2000 April 2, 2000 Anaheim, California Arrowhead Pond: Terri beat The Kat
WrestleMania X-Seven April 1, 2001 Houston, Texas Reliant Astrodome: Women's Title: Chyna beat Ivory to win the title
WrestleMania X8 March 17, 2002 Toronto, Ontario SkyDome: Women's Title: Champion Jazz beat Trish Stratus and Lita
WrestleMania XIX March 30, 2003 Seattle, Washington Safeco Field: Women's Title: Trish Stratus beat Champion Victoria and Jazz to win the title
WrestleMania XX March 14, 2004 New York, New York Madison Square Garden: Women's Title: Champion Victoria beat Molly Holly. As a result, Molly lost her hair.
WrestleMania 21 April 3, 2005 Los Angeles, California Staples Center: Women's Title: Champion Trish Stratus beat Christy Hemme
WrestleMania 22 April 2, 2006 Rosemont, Illinois Allstate Arena: Women’s Title: Mickie James beat Champion Trish Stratus to win the title
WrestleMania 23 April 1, 2007 Detroit, Michigan Ford Field: Champion Melina beat Ashley Massaro

I didn't count gimmick matches, only real matches (yeah I know the mixed tag teams are kind of a gimmick), but you can see how the WWE doesn't really push women at the "The Grandest Stage of Them All"

Brooke Hogan Wrestling?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
" Let me tell you something sister! "

Okay, I know she's not a female wrestler.
But there's a rumor that Brooke Hogan may actually wrestle Ric Flair's son, Reid Flair, in a circus tent after the last show of the day by Circus Hollywood at the Florida State Fair. She's going to be there shooting an episode of her VH1 show "Brooke Knows Best".
Brooke?
Wrestling?
Well, she's got the genes, she's got the build.
And she has hinted at possibly wrestling before in an interview.
Could we see Hulkamania running wild in the Women's Wrestling division of the WWE?
Who knows? But it got my imagination going.......
Imagine Brooke debuting in the WWE (after extensive training by her dad of course) as a face.
Good little Brooke has a few matches and loses.
Then one night her father accompanies her to ring side and during the course of the match "accidentally" interferes giving Brooke the win.
The next week it happens again, but this time more flagrant and then everyone sees the heel turn.
Brooke as a female version of the nWo Hogan.
But it doesn't stop there.
Remember back at Starrcade in 1997, when Bret Hart accused referee Nick Patrick of fast-counting for Hogan in the Sting / Hogan WCW World Heavyweight Championship match?
Remember the match restarted with Hart as the ref and Sting won?
Well the WWE could spin that into a "Hollywood Brooke Hogan" feud with Bret Hart's real life niece, Natalya.
Imagine a WWE PPV or even a Wrestlemania with "Hollywood Brooke Hogan" accompanied by Hulk Hogan against Natalya seconded by Bret Hart!

And I'm STILL not writing for the WWE.......
